VISION

Thiel College Greek Life is committed to recognizing and encouraging the positive learning experiences that are possible in a fraternity and sorority community that has a diversified membership.  Thiel College Greek Life achieves this by providing education and experience in leadership, group dynamics and organization development.  Thiel College Greek Life promotes student involvement in co-curricular activities, sponsorship of and participation in community service and philanthropic projects, in addition to appreciation for different lifestyles, including cultural and religious heritages.  Thiel College Greek Life has four pillars on which it stands, including Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Social.

FOUR PILLARS

Scholarship
Academics are the primary focus at Thiel College and sororities and fraternities value strong academic performance. Each chapter has established minimum academic requirements for membership. As you go through the recruitment process you will learn more about our academic requirements depending on the organization you fit the best with. Each chapter has an elected officer who oversees the members and their academic performance throughout the year.

Our fraternities and sororities average GPAs are higher than the all campus average and the organizations achieve this by supporting tutoring and study sessions either through their own organization or through The Learning Commons.  The Greeks also practice study skills by having workshops.  Some organizations require meetings with each person's academic adviser.  Also, some organizations have scholarships they can receive through the school for their academic performance.

Leadership
Sororities and fraternities are self-governing organizations that offer many opportunities for the development of leadership skills not found in other organizations. Within each chapter and within the Greek community, you can gain experience working with many different people. This will strengthen one's time management skills, public speaking abilities, teamwork, motivation and organization skills by managing a budget, running meetings, and organizing and participating in various events

Service
Service to others is an intergral part of sorority and fraternity life. The organizations pride themselves on their commitment to community service (hands on activities benefiting others) and philanthropic endeavors (raising money for charitable organizations). You will find men and women giving generously of their time to make the world a little brighter for someone.

Our Greeks support the following organizations like Adopt-A-Highway, local Special Olympics, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Alzheimer's Association, Breast Cancer Education and Awareness, Autism Speaks, St. Paul's Home, Movember: Men's Health Education and Awareness, A Greater Cause, The Pittsburgh Children's Hospital, YouthAIDS, The American Red Cross and many more.

All sororities and fraternities participate in Thiel College's Annual "Spring Into Action" event, teaming up with other campus organizations and the Greenville Community for a campus- & community-wide clean-up day.

Social
Sorority and fraternity membership will provide you with many new social opportunities. Social functions with other chapters, sister or brotherhood activities, formals, and other special events give members the opportunity to meet new people. Many of these contacts lead to life-long and rewarding friendships. The people you meet and the experience you share with them will be some of the fondest memories of your college life.
