Thiel College
Spiritual Life Overview

Welcome to Thiel Campus Ministry!

Our campus ministry is all about a welcome for all. It’s about the wide-armed welcome God extends freely to the world in Jesus Christ. It’s about a faith which welcomes learning, exploration and pondering life’s deepest questions. At Thiel College, we encourage you to celebrate a lively spiritual life. We welcome you as God’s wondrous creation, unique and gifted by grace. We invite you to the tables of grace at worship in the chapel and on campus.

You are welcomed to these regular gatherings for worship:

  • The Welcome Worship Service at the beginning of the academic year
  • Candles in the Round on Sunday evenings
  • Weekly Worship on Wednesday afternoons
  • Advent Lessons and Carols in December
  • The Interfaith Martin Luther King, Jr. service in January
  • Baccalaureate Sunday at the end of the academic year.

Special services and events occur during the year, so check the Spiritual Life calendar for upcoming news!

David Glen Johnson Memorial Chapel

The Thiel College chapel is named in memory of the son of Glen and Lavonne Johnson, members of First English Lutheran Church, Pittsburgh, PA. The chapel was dedicated on May 6, 2006 and we thank Glen and Lavonne Johnson for their funding. The Chapel is also available for private prayer and student use during regular hours during the weekdays and by special request at other times. The Thiel Choir rehearses and presents concerts in the Chapel while other groups host Bible studies and classes. The Chapel stands at the center of the east and west portions of the campus as a witness to the centrality of our spiritual life that we share together at Thiel College.
