First-Year Student Orientation

First-Year Student Orientation is an important part of your Thiel education – it is the beginning of four years that will shape your future. This program is designed to help you with the transition to college, to lay out the College’s expectations for you and educate you about the various on-campus opportunities.

You will also receive a mailing in August with information about your move-in times on Friday, Aug. 22. Contact Bobbi Mutinelli, Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Residence Life, at rmutinelli@thiel.edu with any questions.

Arrival Instructions

Please report to the Gymnasium/Fitness Center parking lot located on Route PA-58 - College Avenue. Follow signs for New Student Orientation. Once you arrive, you will pull through a convenient "drive-in" for new student check in. Students will receive their Orientation Schedule, and other important information for the day. If you have not finalized your financial aid package or business account information, you will be directed to meet with a Thiel representative prior to moving into the residence hall.

9:00 a.m. Florence West 6th floor, Florence West 7th floor
9:15 a.m. Sawhill 3rd floor, Hodge 3rd floor
10:00 a.m. Florence West 4th and 5th floors
10:15 a.m. Sawhill 2nd floor, Hodge 2nd floor
10:30 a.m. Florence West 3rd floor
11:00 a.m. Sawhill 1st floor, Hodge 1st floor
11:30 a.m. Florence West 1st floor and 2nd floor

Residential Transfer Student check in is at 11:00 am in the Student Life Office, located in the Howard Miller Student Center.

Commuter Students check in at 1:00 pm in the Sawhill Georgian Room of the Howard Miller Student Center (HMSC).

Move-in times are staggered so that orientation volunteers can assist you with the heavy work of carrying items up the steps. Please help us make the process a smooth one by arriving promptly at your scheduled time. If we have families arriving out of order it could back up the move in and check in process.
