Thiel College is happy to provide scholarships to select students auditioning for marching band, concert band, color guard and majorette line. Scholarships are given based on student ability to meet certain performance criteria and determined by audition. These scholarships are renewable yearly and contingent upon a student’s continued and successful participation in the ensemble(s) as well as successful maintenance of at least a 2.5 GPA.
Audition Requirements
Instrumentalists are asked to prepare a solo that demonstrates your abilities on
your instrument. Possible suggestions include band festival audition solos, solo and
ensemble sections, recital repertoire, appropriate etudes or other literature that would
best display the level at which you perform.
Color guard and majorette candidates are asked to choreograph and perform a one
and a half - to three-minute routine to a recorded selection that displays your abilities
with baton or flag. Please bring a compact disc or cassette tape of your recording to
your audition.
Students living more than 2 hours away from Thiel may elect to audition by video recording. These recordings should be submitted by May 14. At the beginning of your video be sure to state your full name and high school,
announce your selection and then begin your performance. The video should be a
continuous recording and should be submitted unedited.
Students must have applied prior to audition.
