For Immediate Release: April 19, 2008 THIEL MEN COMPETE AT B-W'S SPARKY ADAMS INVITATIONAL;
Freshman Josh Jones (New Castle/New Castle) recorded a win in the high jump with a jump of 6-2.75. He also finished second in the long jump (21-0.50) and fifth in the 110 hurdles (15.20). Senior Brad Bowman (Youngstown, Ohio/Ursuline) finished second in the high jump (6-0.75) while freshman Josh Rogers (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) was second in the javelin (172-0). Sophomore Alex Eaton (Erie/Cathedral Prep.) ran to a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash (48.25) and an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash (22.93), provisionally qualifying for the Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in the 400. Freshman Derek Workman (Valencia/Mars) finished third in the 800-meter run (1:57.46) while sophomore Trayshon Mason (Decatur, Ill./Eisenhower) was third in the 100-meter dash (11.26). Freshman Joe Ugino (Corry/Corry) was the fourth-place finisher in the pole vault with a mark of 13-5.75 while sophomore Brendan Taylor (Girard/Girard) finished sixth in the 110 hurdles (15.34). Junior Deighton Williams (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College) finished fifth in the 800 (1:58.76) while freshman Brandon Eck (Corry/Corry) was sixth in the 800 (1:58.93). Senior Will Mills (Imperial/West Allegheny) ran to a sixth-place finish in the 400 (50.67) and a seventh-place finish in the 200 (22.92). Both men's 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams finished in second place. The 4x100 (42.26) team was made up of Taylor, Mason, Mills and Coley and set a new school mark in the event, while the 4x400 (3:19.83) team was comprised of Workman, Williams, Mills and Eaton. Thiel returns to action on Saturday, April 26 when it travels to the 2008 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Washington & Jefferson College. Events are scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m. |
