For Immediate Release: May 12 ,2008 EIGHT BASEBALL PLAYERS EARN ALL-PAC ACCOLADES WEXFORD, Pa. (May 12) -- Eight members of the Thiel College baseball program earned 2008 All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) recognition Monday. The Tomcats (29-15) had six players named to the First Team with a pair earning Second Team honors. Howard, named to the First Team for the second-straight season, was second on the squad in batting average after hitting .420 in 42 games (41 starts). He finished with four home runs, 40 RBI and 46 runs scored. Ulogar, also a First Team selection for the second-straight year, batted .379 in 42 starts to go along with three home runs and 41 RBI. Scarpitti hit .352 in 44 games (43 starts) and finished second on the squad in home runs (12) and third in RBI (57). Boylan, who hit .418 in 43 starts this season, set Tomcat single-season records in runs (55), doubles (25), and total bases (139) and tied Dunham for tops in the single-season annals in RBI with 63. A Second Team selection following the 2007 season, Boylan also strung together a program-best 26 game hit streak to start the season. Dunham set a new single-season standard in home runs, with 15, while batting .411 in 43 starts. He also finished with 14 doubles and tied Boylan with a program-best 63 RBI. Tedesco set a new Thiel single-season mark by posting an 11-3 overall record (10 starts) and a 2.92 ERA. He led the squad in strikeouts (63) and limited opposing batters to just a .217 average. Nypaver led the Tomcats with a .428 batting average, good enough for fourth on the single-season list. He also tallied five home runs, 42 RBI and 42 runs scored. Wadowsky, a First Team pick in 2007, finished 5-2 (12 starts) with three complete games and a 4.79 ERA. He concludes his career with a mark of 21-11, second on the all-time list. |
