For Immediate Release: October 3, 2007 THIEL'S MINTON NAMED TO D3FOOTBALL.COM TEAM OF THE WEEK
The Team of the Week is selected by D3football.com staff and contributors from players nominated by SIDs, coaches and conference offices. Minton took over another career mark Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium as Thiel (2-3, 1-1) posted a 37-13 conference victory over visiting Bethany College. Minton carried the ball 24 times for a school-record 238 yards and a pair of scores (76, 23). His 238 yards passed Justin Napotnik '04, who ran for 225 yards in the Tomcats' 31-28 victory over Kenyon College on Nov. 15, 2003, on the single-game rushing list. Minton's 76-yard touchdown run in the second quarter of action was the longest run from scrimmage in his career and tied him for the third-longest in school history. He is currently the school's all-time leader in both rushing yards (2,862) and rushing touchdowns (34) and is second in career rushing attempts (618) and career points (210). He is the school's lone 1,000-yard rusher (1,066 in 2005). Minton and the Tomcats return to action on Saturday, Oct. 6 when they travel to Cameron Stadium in Washington, Pa. to take on the Presidents of Washington & Jefferson College. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. |
