WADOWSKY, HOWARD NAMED TO ALL-MIDEAST REGION SECOND-TEAM

GREENVILLE, Pa. - Thiel College’s 2007 starting battery of junior pitcher Eric Wadowsky (Pittsburgh/Langley) and sophomore catcher Andrew Howard (Olney, Md./Sherwood) were named to the Division III Rawlings/ABCA Baseball All-Mideast Region team Wednesday. Both players were selected to the second-team.

Wadowsky concluded his junior campaign with a Tomcat single-season best record of 8-3 to go along with a 2.08 ERA. His eight wins were the most in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) and his ERA was the second-best in the conference. He was also second in the conference in innings pitched and fourth in strikeouts. He is currently third on the Tomcat all-time victories list with a career record of 16-7 with a 3.14 ERA.

Howard led the Tomcats with a team-best .388 batting average, which was the best average among catchers in the PAC. He scored 27 runs and recorded 17 RBIs.

The Tomcats were 31-15 this season and finished second in the 2007 PAC Championship Tournament. Their 31-win season was a school-best for the baseball program.
