THIEL'S HENDRICKS HEADLINES FOOTBALL GAZETTE ALL-AMERICA TEAM

Dave HendricksGREENVILLE, Pa. (Jan. 13) -- Thiel College senior offensive tackle Dave Hendricks (Rockton/DuBois) was named a first team all-American by Don Hansen's Football Gazette NCAA Thursday night. Hendricks, named the offensive lineman of the year in the South region, garnered the same honors during the all-American process with the Football Gazette.

Also named all-Americans by the Football Gazette were senior wide receiver Brandon Chambers (Farrell/Farrell) and sophomore running back Steve Minton (Cranberry Twp./Seneca Valley), named an honorable mention.

Hendricks is a two-time all-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) first-team selection who started 44 total games during his career. He anchored an offensive line that helped the Tomcats average more than 400 yards of total offense per game this season. Besides the AP Little All-American award, he was named to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III All-America Team, earning a spot on the AFCA Division III all-star team that represented the United States against the Mexican National Team in the 2005 Aztec Bowl on December 17, 2005 in Toluca, Mexico.

Brandon ChambersChambers, who was a D3football.com Co-Offensive Player of the Year in the South Region, finished sixth in Division III in receptions per game (8.2), sixth in receiving yards per game (126.2) and 45th in scoring (8.7 points-per-game). He concluded the season with 90 catches for 1,388 yards and 16 touchdowns. Chambers is the Tomcats' all-time leader in receptions (203), touchdown receptions (34), receiving yards (3,406) and points (212).


Steve Minton Minton rushed for 1,066 yards on 230 carries with 19 touchdowns to become the school's first 1,000-yard rusher. He finished 20th in Division III in scoring, averaging 10.4 points-per-game.

Thiel concluded its season with an 11-1 overall record, won the program's first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) title since 1972 and earned the program's first-ever NCAA Division III playoff win.
