Phi Theta Phi Walk-A-Thon

On Dec. 2 and 3, Phi Theta Phi Fraternity held their 42nd Annual Walk-A-Thon to benefit Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. The money collected is donated to Children Hospital’s Free Care Fund and this year the Phis raised $26,300 from the 100-mile walk from Greenville to Pittsburgh. The Phis expect to exceed this year’s goal of $35,000 through text to donate (text “freecare” to 50555), online donations and the Dec. 24th Steelers game, during which 100 volunteers will collect for the fund throughout the game. The brothers, along with alumni, family and friends, also collected during Pittsburgh’s Light Up Night on Nov. 18.
The brothers of Phi Theta Phi would like to thank everyone who participated and volunteered for the walk, especially the alumni, faculty and staff. This year’s walk was dedicated to the memory of Bill Proper ‘83 who recently passed away. As a Phi, Bill was extremely devoted and held leadership positions, including the 1983 Walk-A-Thon chair.
Donations are still being accepted and 2011 walk-a-thon T-shirts are on sale for $10. Please contact the Alumni Office if interested.
