Campus Happenings

Fairwell Festival

The second annual Fairwell Festival to celebrate the end of the academic year took place on Friday, April 25, which was also the last day of classes. Students, faculty, staff and friends of the College had a great time playing games, eating treats like corndogs and lemon slushies, making Thiel College tie-dye shirts and winning great prizes. Next year’s festival will take place on April 24.

Commencement 2008

On May 3, 203 students earned degrees and became the newest members of Thiel College’s alumni body. Despite the rainy weather, spirits were high and the day was joyful as the students, faculty and trustees processed up Brother Martin’s Walk to the Passavant Center. Dr. Carl Hoffman Jr. ’69 delivered the keynote address and Joseph Werlinich ’53 received an honorary doctorate of humanities. Congratulations to all! Softball Player Receives PAC Honor

Thiel College softball player Leah Snyder ’08 was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month for April 2008. Congratulations Leah!

Thiel Men Finish Second, Women Finish Third at 2008 PAC Championships

The Thiel College men's outdoor track and field squad finished in second place with 205.5 total team points and the women's squad posted a third-place finish with 116 total team points at Saturday's 2008 Presidents' Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Washington & Jefferson College.

College for Kids

Elementary Camp: June 23 through July 3, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Junior High Camp: July 7 - 11 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Build on your child’s imagination, creativity and talents as he or she experiences Thiel College's campus while attending College for Kids! Youth in the fall of 2008 entering grades 4 through 6 can enroll in the Elementary Camp while students in grades 7 through 9 can enroll in the Junior High Camp. Besides attending classes, each camper will have an opportunity to swim in the Greenville Recreation Center pool after class each day. A wide variety of classes are available in a multitude of areas—from computers to magic to Spanish to cooking! A special Thiel College alumni discount of five percent is available. Western Pennslyvania and eastern Ohio alumni are invited to Greenville for a new special summer alumni event: the Summer Alumni Gathering. Each alumni gathering will feature tours of campus, information on the latest campus happenings and time for questions and answers. The gathering will be followed by a picnic on the terrace of the Howard Miller Student Center with current and former faculty and staff.

Cleveland Alumni Event

Thursday, June 12, 2008
Join us for a Cuyahoga River cruise abroad the Nautica Queen on Thursday, June 12, 2008, from 7 to 10 p.m. (Boarding begins at 6 p.m.) At this special event, you can mix and mingle with Thiel College alumni and staff while enjoying a delicious buffet dinner and the historic sights of downtown Cleveland. Making A Difference

Senior Class Gift Helps the Greenville Community

The Class of 2008 followed a long tradition of leaving the College with a gift to commemorate their experience at Thiel College. The seniors made two gifts, a tree to adorn Brother Martin’s Walk and Thiel College light pole banners to be displayed along Main Street.

Digital and hard copy prints are accepted. Digital prints should be large 300 DPI jpg or tif files. Please note that photos become the property of Thiel College and may not be returned. Please identify any people and locations in the photo, including class years if applicable.
