Major: French Current Job/Employer: Retired Favorite Thiel Professors: Richard Hayes, Robert Bryan, George Reese Why I initially chose Thiel: Small liberal arts college…just the right distance from home.
Classroom/Dorm Story: I lived in Harter Hall as a Freshman and then as a Dorm Advisor in my Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years. Lots of Harter Hall stories…but probably not suitable for telling here.
How my Thiel education aided me in my career: Study of the Liberal Arts was good foundation for graduate study and career.
How my experience at Thiel aided me in my life/career: I met my wife, Marsha Friberg Shinkman, at Thiel!
Comments about your journey at Thiel and the relationships made: Social life was probably too centered around fraternities and sororities. A stronger program in intercollegiate athletics, such as the one that exists now, would have helped us develop more Thiel Pride.
Why I give back to Thiel and serve on the Alumni Board: My four years at Thiel were enjoyable and beneficial in terms of academics, social life, athletics, leadership development. All small private liberal arts colleges today are faced with huge challenges. I’d like to help Thiel to thrive, and with new leadership at the top the outlook is promising.
