The Alumni Association Board of Directors is comprised of representatives from the Alumni Association who are elected to serve a three-year term and may be re-elected to a second term. In addition, at-large members may be elected whose geographic location prevents them from attending meetings but who are interested in promoting the college in their area. Charles Goodrick '74 - President
Chuck graduated from Thiel with a B.A. in Business Administration. He joined the Chrysler Corporation Sales & Marketing Division, immediately after graduation from Thiel. His 35-year career at Chrysler included traveling and living throughout the U.S. and Asia. Most of his tenure involved Dealer Network Planning for the U.S. and the Asia Pacific Region, while living in Japan. Since his retirement from Chrysler, he was asked to join the Alumni Board in 2010. He began as a Board member, elected Vice President in 2012 and has filled the President position since January 2013. He brings a wealth of experiences and knowledge from 35 years in the Global Business World, a well developed skill set and, most importantly, a desire to “give back to Thiel College students, because someone took time to give to him”.
Raymond B. Hanlon ’74 - Past President
Raymond majored in psychology at Thiel. For nearly 30 years, he has worked at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Department of Anesthesiology, Division of Pain Medicine. Besides fulfilling clinical duties, he lectures in various university and medical departments and mentors and supervises doctoral students and clinical psychology interns. Raymond and his wife of 32 years, Donna, live in Portersville, Pa., and have two adult sons, Aaron and Sean.
E. William "Bill" Matthews '74, CPA, FHFMA - Secretary
Bill graduated from Thiel with a bachelor's degree in Accounting. He was President of Delta Sigma Phi, Co-Captain of 1973-74 wrestling team, and was awarded the Pennsylvania CPA Accounting Award. Bill attended Robert Morris University and graduated in 1985 with a Master of Science in Business Administration. He is a CPA and has worked for a number of health care entities in the Pittsburgh market serving as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He is a Fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Bill has his own consulting company advising clients on tax and operational matters and is a part time adjunct professor for Carlow University. Bill resides north of Pittsburgh in Hampton Township with his wife Diane and twin sons Brad and Nick.
Michael A. Allen ’90
Michael graduated from Thiel with a B.A. in Communications. Upon graduation, he worked at WSEE-TV35 in Erie, Pa as an editor/cameraman before leaving for Washington, DC to work for BET (Black Entertainment Television). While at BET, Michael won an NAACP Image Award for working on a network special for the “Teen Summit” series. He also owns Ovie Entertainment Group,LLC and has worked with many networks/facilities as an editor /producer including: America’s Most Wanted (Fox), Discovery Channel, the University of Maryland, and The Congressional Black Caucus. Michael is employed at ABC in the Washington, DC bureau and has worked as an editor for various shows including “World News with Diane Sawyer”, “Nightline” and “Good Morning America” where he earned two Emmy’s as a part of the production team. Currently, he is the Senior Video Editor for “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” at ABC.
Dr. Karen E. Ely ’83
Karen holds a degree in Business, a Master's degree in College Student Personnel, and a Doctorate in Higher Education and has worked on college campuses since the late eighties. While at Thiel, Karen was affiliated with Alpha Xi Delta and worked student jobs at the library and with the sports information director. Karen lives in her hometown of Bergen, New York.

At the age of 10 I learned to wiggle my ears. At the age of 18, I enrolled at Thiel College. I successfully graduated in 1983. I worked for H & R Block as a tax preparer and account rep. I began my career as a Federal accountant with the Department of the Army and completed my career with the Department of Energy. I am currently a full time real estate agent with Northwood Realty Services and a property manager. I married my Thiel college sweetheart, Twila and we were blessed with three sons, a dog and a cat. I started raising chickens a few years ago, but the flock is not large enough for be to be considered a chicken farmer. At 52, there are still chapters to be written.

Alison graduated with a philosophy degree. After graduation, Alison moved to Pittsburgh and began her career in the financial services industry with Federated Investors as a client service representative. She later had the opportunity to work for PNC Investments and First Niagara Bank before moving back to Greenville to join GFC Strategic Lifestyle Advisors in August 2012. After 5 years in the finance industry, Alison has decided to go back to school to pursue a degree in nursing. Since she moved back, Alison has made a long term commitment to the community. She is a member of this Board, the StrayHaven Board of Directors and the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Janet (Scofield) McClintock ’64
Janet has a B.A. from Thiel in Biology and an M.S. from Suny-Binghamton in Elementary Education. While at Thiel, Janet was active in Alpha Gamma Delta and was a four-year member of the Thiel Choir. She and her husband have three daughters and eight grandchildren. Janet's twenty-eight year teaching career began in the elementary grades and soon moved on to jr. and sr. high where she taught mathematics. After she had taught 28 years, she and her husband both retired and have spent much of their time traveling and building with the RV Care-A-Vanners for Habitat for Humanity. Janet is also an avid quilter and reader, and is active in her church.

Dr. Joseph T. Nairn ’79
Joe is the Executive Director of Advancement at Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) in Canandaigua, NY. He arrived at FLCC in 2008 after a 25 year career at Rochester Institute of Technology where he worked in Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Continuing Education, and Enrollment Management. Joe’s professional career began at Thiel in 1979 when he accepted a position as an Admissions Counselor. He holds a BA in Economics from Thiel College, an M.Ed. in Higher Education from the University of Vermont, and a Doctor of Management degree in Community College Policy and Administration from the University of Maryland University College. Joe and his wife, Terri, have 3 adult children, Caitlin, Thomas, and Craig and an assertively affectionate Malinois mix named Tela.
Antonio Quarterman ’08
Antonio graduated from Thiel with a degree in Political Science. He was the President of the Organization of Black Collegians and his class. He also participated in football, track and field, and Phi Sigma Alpha. Antonio attended Youngstown State University and graduated in 2010 with a Master of Science in Education. Antonio currently works as the Director of Multicultural Student Services at Robert Morris University (PA). Antonio is also active in the community serving on the board for the YWCACenter for Race and Gender Equity, the Junior Board for Every Child, Inc., and serving as the Campus Coordinator for the Black Male Leadership Development Institute. Antonio and his wife, Jessica, have a son, Colton and currently reside in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Dawn Salter ’95
Dawn graduated from Thiel with a BA in English. Dawn is an Assistant Manager at Sheetz #400 in St. Marys, Pa. She has also worked at The Daily Press in both the editorial and advertising departments. She is the President of the Elk County Catholic High School Alumni Association in St. Marys.
Dr. Christopher Shinkman ’62
Shinkman graduated from Thiel with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French. A four-year letter winner as a member of the men's tennis team, he competed on the College's first intercollegiate tennis team in 1959. He captained the squad, played first singles and was paired with Ron Tripson '61 on the number one doubles team throughout the 1961 and 1962 seasons. After Thiel, he worked as a college and university career counselor. He is currently retired.
Marion (Norris) Shoemaker ’63
Marion has a B.A. from Thiel in in Secondary Education. While at Thiel, Marion was active in Alpha Gamma Delta. She and her late husband (Ronald Shoemaker '63) have three children and 5 grandchildren. Marion's teaching career encompassed the teaching of German, Latin, and Mathematics to junior and senior high school children. Marion is now retired and enjoying her free time. She is active in the community food pantry and her church.
Kraig R. Smith ’12
Kraig graduated from Thiel with forensic accounting, business administration, and accounting degrees and is currently working on his Masters in Business Administration from Clarion University. Kraig works at Thiel College as the Coordinator of Wellness and oversees all of the intramural sports and fitness classes.
Paul R. Stibich ’05
Paul graduated with a B.A. in business administration and accounting, and has been a retirement plan consultant with CAPTRUST since January 2009. His areas of expertise include investment analysis, fee policies, provider fee negotiations, vendor search and selection, and employee education. He is involved with the Talent Attraction and Retention Committee for Torchbearers, CAPTRUST Community Foundation Board, the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce, Ohio Employee Ownership Center in Ohio and the HALO Foundation in Akron, Ohio.
Brianna L. Sweet-Lawn ’13
I graduated from Thiel with a B.A. in Biology. I was an active sister and Vice President of Membership of Alpha Xi Delta, member of Order of Omega, secretary of Beta Beta Beta, and a director for the Thiel Activity Board. I worked in the Alumni Office, as the intern for Phonathon, and I also tutored Latin in the TLC. Post-graduation, I married my high school sweetheart. No kids yet, but we just adopted a kitten and she's our baby (read "spoiled"). Also, in June I accepted a job offer for my first big-girl job. I am currently working as a Clinical Allergy Specialist for United Allergy Services at a physician's office in Austintown, Ohio.
Damen L. Taylor ’95
Damen L. Taylor graduated from Thiel College with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Business Administration in 1995. He was a member of the Tomcat football team, Secretary and Treasurer of the Organization of Black Collegiates, and the 1995 Homecoming King. He currently is the Executive Manager of Budget and Operations for the Homewood Children's Village, a non-profit organization whose focus is serving the children of Homewood, a neighborhood in Pittsburgh. He also does bookkeeping consulting work for various churches and other non-profit organizations. Damen resides on the North Side of Pittsburgh with his wife Sara and his four children Gabrielle, Lillianne, James, and Violet.
John A. Wotus ’74
John graduated from Thiel with a BA in Political Science, is married to Deborah Petrovic '76 and is a father of four children. He has spent the last 38 years in various positions in sales, marketing and management. John is currently a Manager of Business Development for Fresenius Medical Care, based out of the Pittsburgh, Pa. region. Previously, he worked for Burroughs Corporation, Baxter Healthcare and Amgen. In addition to being a part of the Alumni Board, he is currently the Treasurer of the Baldwin-Whitehall Educational Foundation, Secretary of St. Elizabeth's Parish Pastoral Council, and member of the Communications committee for St. E's and a lector and Eucharistic Minister. He is also active in the route 51 Corridor Committee. In the past, he coached baseball, football, soccer and basketball for local youth associations and was an officer and President of the Baldwin-Whitehall Soccer association. As far as civic undertakings, John served on the Recreation Board for the Borough of Whitehall, serving as both Vice Chair and Chairperson. He was also elected and served two terms as council member and President of Whitehall Borough Council. He has also served on various committees for the National Kidney Foundation and American Cancer Association. John has always had a place in my heart for Thiel College. His hopes are that he can play a part in Thiel's success now and in the future.
