Major: Economics Current Job/Employer: Executive Assistant to the President, Finger Lakes Community College Canandaigua, NY Favorite Thiel Professors: Dr. Robert Olson, Mr. David Miller, Mr. Al Hull, Dr. Sonya Wilt Why I initially chose Thiel: Excellent pre-professional programs, a chance to play college football, a good place to grow and learn about myself
Classroom/Dorm Story: My sophomore year there was little to do at Homecoming if you were not in a fraternity or sorority, my roommate and I arranged for a friend’s band to play the basement of Harter Hall, and we sold tickets. We were initially worried about losing our “investment” as we fronted the band the money, but we ended up making a profit and threw another party later with the proceeds!
How my Thiel education aided me in my career: For me, the greatest value of a Thiel education was the recognition that you are never complete. I found that Thiel made me aware of how little I really knew, and how much more there was to learn. I feel that my motivation for self-improvement and continuous learning was ingrained here.
How my experience at Thiel aided me in my life/career: I learned about loyalty, a strong work ethic, the importance of personal responsibility, and the value of good and lasting friendships.
Comments about your journey at Thiel and the relationships made: My Thiel friends are still among my closest friends. We made the journey “together” and we have stayed in touch. We have common bonds and experiences that are impossible to break.
Why I give back to Thiel and serve on the Alumni Board: I owe the college a debt of gratitude for the opportunities it has afforded me. No one pays the full cost of a Thiel education, others have shown their support of what we learn here and now is my time to give back.
