Thiel College's commitment to faith is long-standing. Although Burgess Chapel within Passavant Center has served Thiel well in the past, its lack of architectural inspiration, its location on the northeast side of campus, and its limited seating capacity make it inadequate to continue to serve the spiritual needs of the growing campus community. The proposed chapel will be located on College Avenue along Brother Martin's Walk.

It would be evident to visitors, congregations, the campus community, the surrounding communities, prospective students and their families that Thiel College is a faith-based institution.

The central location of the chapel is a very visible symbol of Thiel's commitment, as it places worship as an integral part of who we are and what we do. It would be evident to visitors, congregations, the campus community, the surrounding communities and prospective students and their families that Thiel College is a faith-based institution.

The chapel is first and foremost a place of worship. It serves as a place for student worship and all-campus worship, which take place at least twice weekly. In addition to worship services, the chapel could accommodate other activities. Special speakers, seminars, forums and series also could take place here, apart from or in conjunction with worship.
