In partnership with the Borough of Greenville, Thiel College has received a $1,243,370 Recreational Challenge Grant from the state of Pennsylvania. A portion of these funds have been used for the construction of the William Robinson Theater. These dollars assisted with expenses, but the grant required us to seek funding from other sources as a match.

Named for Dr. William A. Robinson, longtime professor of performing arts and director of the Thiel Players, the 7,500 square-foot theater includes an open performance space, modern interior with telescopic seating and flexible staging. Our students now have the opportunity to learn in a state-of-the-art facility that is favored by colleges and other theater-training programs.

Additionally, the theater provides a cultural resource for the community. Organizations such as the Greenville Area Community Theatre use the space for its annual summer production, the first of which took place in July 2007.

The theater's construction was completed in summer 2007 and an opening celebration is scheduled for Homecoming Weekend in September. Performing arts are an important component of the liberal arts tradition and opportunities still exist for you to support this valuable new campus resource. By providing financial support to the theater, you support the core values of receiving a well-rounded education.
