The Thiel College laptop program provides each student with an Lenovo notebook computer to help increase the availability of technology on campus. These notebooks will help maintain a high level standard for campus computing and will include a CD-writer and DVD combo drive, both wired and wireless network cards, as well as many other features, including Microsoft Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite. When students leave the College they will either have the option to purchase the notebook or, depending on the number of semesters they've been enrolled in the program, take the computer with them at no extra cost. Different scenarios may apply to part-time students. Information on this is available through the Information Technology Department. To see a sample contract for the notebook initiative, click here. Thiel has a wireless network on campus. Wireless access is available to students in almost all public areas on campus, including the residence hall lobbies, all of the academic buildings, the library and the Howard Miller Student Center. In addition to everything already mentioned, Thiel has incorporated technology into several smart classrooms on campus in the Academic Center, Science Center and Greenville Hall. The equipment includes a computer with a projector and screen, as well as a sound system and VCR and DVD players. These classrooms allow instructors to bring technology to the students by including it in their lectures and discussions.
