Tech Training Week, May 2006

MS Office: PowerPoint Basics - Leslie Graul and Erika Jones of the Mouganis Instructional Media Center (MIMC) demonstrated how to create a PowerPoint presentation from scratch - adding images, formatting text, and discussing things to consider when making a presentation.

MS Office: PowerPoint more advanced - Graul and Jones built upon some of the topics discussed in the Faculty and staff learn how to create tests in Blackboard.Basics session, as well as teaching participants how to add sound effects, narration, video, and hyperlinks.

Smart Classrooms - In the first part, Leslie Graul demonstrated how to use a digital camcorder, document camera, and other items with smart classroom equipment.  Dean of Education Outreach, John Rindy, taught participants how to use a smart board and explained some of the nuances of smart notebook software.

Blackboard: Basics & Using the Grade book - Erika Jones showed how to navigate through Blackboard and how to use some of its features, such as e-mail, the discussion board, and the gradebook.  In addition, those present had the opportunity to ask questions about some of the topics that were not covered in the session.

Dr. Mary Theresa Hall and Tammie Rogers practicing some of what they learned in the Blackboard sessions.Computerized Testing: Creating a quiz in Blackboard - John Rindy explained how to identify the tools in the testing module, helped faculty and staff to understand different question types. By the end of the session, participants were able to create exams and quizzes in Blackboard.

Computerized Testing: Creating a quiz in CAN-8 - Leslie Graul illustrated how to create a quiz using CAN-8 virtual lab software.  Faculty and staff learned how to create different question types in CAN-8 using audio and video sources. In addition participants were introduced to the tracker, that allows the instructor to view the progress of his students and grade exams.
