Admissions Counselor/International Non-Resident Recruiter

The Office of Admissions at Thiel College is seeking a full-time professional to serve as Admissions Counselor/International Non-Resident Recruiter. The successful candidate will perform various student recruitment efforts, assist with the expansion of market research, and fulfill other duties assigned to professional members of the Admissions team. The successful candidate will have the proven ability to work in a fast paced office environment, efficiently and effectively solve problems, and initiate and implement projects independently. This individual will have strong people skills with the ability to work with diverse populations. Must be able to travel independently both nationally and internationally, function comfortably in a team structure, and be able to speak before large and small groups with confidence.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

Primarily responsible for the recruitment of non-resident (international and US domestic) students and students from assigned territory in order to achieve enrollment goals;

Responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of admissions programs and initiatives for international student recruitment as well as collaboration with student affairs departments in order to enhance the quality and diversity of the undergraduate student body;

Conduct inquiry and applicant follow-up, review international transcripts and conduct activities including (but not limited to): letter writing; phone calling, email communication, web-based interviewing, and participation in on- and off-campus programs;

Responsible for working with Marketing and Public Relations office in order to plan and implement a communication and marketing plan directed toward the recruitment and yield of non-resident high school and transfer students;

Complete surveys handled by the Admissions Office as assigned;

Complete routine reports and manage budget related to recruitment, projections, personal schedule, travel, special programs, and professional development;

Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received: General supervision received from Director of Admissions, reporting to Dean of Enrollment.

Supervision Exercised: Occasional functional supervision of student workers.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience: Well-developed public speaking, presentation, communication and organizational skills. Professional work experience in higher education or related field with extensive international interaction. Knowledge of Microsoft environments including Word, Access, Excel preferred. Knowledge of PowerCAMPUS database system and SEVIS homeland security software preferred.

Physical Requirements: Requirements are within the general range of an office environment. Ability to travel internationally required. Additional periods of travel within United States may occur. Overnight travel and some evening and weekend assignments are required. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and passport.

Other notes about the position: Successful candidates will possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills, public speaking skills and computer proficiency. Extremely strong organizational skills, along with the interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with diverse constituencies, are important to be successful in this position. Understanding the unique value of the traditional liberal arts program and the ability to communicate such to prospective students and their families is vital. A high degree of flexibility and a service-oriented attitude are required. Creative, energetic team players that have the capability to work independently, efficiently and effectively are highly desired. The successful candidate will have proven abilities regarding attention to detail, follow-through, and dependability.
