Assistant Professor — Criminology/Criminal Justice
Thiel College seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure track assistant professorship in the area of criminology/criminal justice. The primary responsibility will be teaching and developing new courses in the Criminal Justice Studies major. Courses to be taught include Introduction to Criminal Justice, Juvenile Justice Studies, Family Justice Issues, Criminology, Policing in America, Corrections, and upper-level electives. Although this is an established program, there is significant room for creative input and course development.
Additional responsibilities include taking a leadership role in maintaining and expanding the major and directing internships and co-ops. All candidates must be willing to teach in one of the college-wide, interdisciplinary courses (Western Humanities or Science and Our Global Heritage). Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, or in a related field and demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching (ABDs will be considered).
