DIRECTOR OF BANDS
Thiel College is a private liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It is located on a beautiful 135 acre, tree-lined campus in Greenville, Pennsylvania midway between Erie and Pittsburgh, and 75 miles east of Cleveland, Ohio.
Thiel College invites applications for a full-time 10-month Director of Bands position with a 2010 start date to be determined. Faculty rank will be determined based upon the successful candidate’s credentials. Thiel College will begin a marching band program and seeks the right person to develop and implement a contemporary marching band program.
Responsibilities include: marching band, wind ensemble or concert band, and pep band. Teaching duties include: One three credit course per semester, studio teaching and performance ensembles. Duties include: Assisting in recruitment and retention efforts, developing relationships with music educators, involvement in college committees, as well as management of instrument and uniform inventory. Minimum qualifications: MMEd or MM, brass or percussion preferred, demonstrated success in teaching in the collegiate and/or public school settings, marching band, concert band and marching band drill design experience required.
