Fall 2008 Semester Schedule
World Christianity: Thursday - 1:00 p.m.-3:45 p.m.
Background:
Over the years, Dr. Ng’weshemi has developed and/or taught a wide range of religion courses such as Introduction to the Bible, Introduction to Christianity, World Christianity, Christian Thought in the Non-Western World, The Christian Life, African Traditional Religion, Jesus in the Gospels, Studies in Paul, African Christianity, and Christian Worship in Global Perspectives. In his teaching, he challenges students to:
- discover meaning and purpose in life
- discover their gifts and develop their vocation
- discover a faithful and meaningful way of living in the world, and develop a sense that each human being has an obligation to make a meaningful contribution to the world
- think critically, acquire values, become capable of making better choices and deciding what is right moral action
Dr. Ng’weshemi’s interests concern world Christianity – the current manifestation of the movement in its diversity and complexity, particularly in the Non-Western world, and the formulation and practice of theology in that context. Most of his research works have been published or presented at professional conferences. His research interests are feasible at an undergraduate liberal arts college. He welcomes students who have an interest in religion or in global issues to be part of his researches so they can better understand and interpret global events and apply their knowledge to positively influence the affairs of the world.
Dr. Ng’weshemi has taught at Dana College and Olive Harvey College. He holds the Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Theology, Master of Arts, and the Bachelor of Divinity degrees from universities in Tanzania and in the U.S.
