MATH 181    Calculus I
MATH 182    Calculus II
MATH 281    Calculus III
MATH 302    Differential Equations

PHYS 174    Introductory Physics I (Calc)
PHYS 184    Introductory Physics II (Calc)

PHYS 213    Analog Electronics

PHYS 223    Thermophysics

PHYS 243    Digital Electronics

PHYS 253    Statics and Dynamics
PHYS 263    Introduction to Modern Physics

PHYS 343    Electromagnetic Theory

PHYS 424    Senior Project

CHEM 140   General Chemistry I
CHEM 160   General Chemistry II

CSCI 159     Introduction to Programming

BAdm 200   Introduction to Entrepreneurship

In addition to the departmental courses for the major, integrative requirements (IR) and electives must be taken. The IR courses are different for the B.A. and the B.S. degrees. There are fewer IR courses for the B.S. option, however students pursuing the B.S. degree are expected to elect more courses from the sciences.

The B.S.or B.A. in Physics Secondary Education requires the following science courses for the major:

MATH 181    Calculus I
MATH 182    Calculus II
MATH 281    Calculus III

PHYS 174    Introductory Physics I (Calc)
PHYS 184    Introductory Physics II (Calc)

PHYS 213    Analog Electronics OR

PHYS 243    Digital Electronics

PHYS 263    Introduction to Modern Physics

PHYS 353    Intermediate Lab

One of the following three:

       PHYS 343    Electromagnetic Theory

       PHYS 223    Thermophysics

       PHYS 253    Statics and Dynamics

PHYS 123    Astronomy

PHYS 424    Senior Project

CHEM 100   Chemtech  OR

CHEM 140   General Chemistry

BIO 145       Foundations of Biology

AH 105        Taking care of your health

CIS 111+112 Word Processing and Spreadsheet

In addition, the following courses must be taken:

a) education courses described in the Education section of the catalog

b) IR courses (general graduation requirements for B.S. respectively B.A.)

c) electives

The IR courses are different for the B.A. and the B.S. degrees. There are fewer IR courses for the B.S. option, however students pursuing the B.S. degree are expected to elect more courses from the sciences.

The requirements for the Physics Minor are:

The prerequisites (if any) for all courses listed below:

PHYS 174    Introductory Physics I (Calc)
PHYS 184    Introductory Physics II (Calc)

PHYS 263    Introduction to Modern Physics

PHYS 213    Analog Electronics   OR

PHYS 243    Digital Electronics   OR

PHYS 353    Intermediate Lab    AND

at least one additional course numbered 200 or higher.

The student must attain a 2.0 GPA average in the required physics and mathematics courses to qualify for any degree.

Applied Physics majors who intend to take an advanced degree in physics are encouraged to take more than the minimum required courses in physics, mathematics, and chemistry. Students interested in pursuing an advanced degree in cross-disciplinary areas, such as chemical physics, biophysics, or geophysics are encouraged to consult with their adviser and the departments in question as early as possible in their undergraduate careers so that an optimal program can be arranged.
