What is Medical TechnologyMedical Technology is a medical laboratory specialty which prepares an individual to work in a hospital, a clinic or a public health laboratory or research facility conducting a variety of tests involved in the diagnosis and monitoring of disease. Thiel offers a 3+1 program in Medical Technology. This means that the student spends the first three years at Thiel meeting the requirements for the major and for the Integrative Requirement of the College. The final year is spent in a clinical setting, usually a hospital, with an approved program in Medical Technology training. Upon successful completion of the clinical program, the student is awarded a BA in Medical Technology from Thiel.What are the Career Options for Medical Technologists?Medical Technologists work in a variety of hospital, clinical, and research facilities. In addition to conducting laboratory tests and basic research, Medical Technologists may also assume administrative responsibilities as directors of laboratory facilities.
