    From learning computer programming to studying theorems and proofs, Thiel College’s Department of Math and Computer Science offers a range of programs that address many modern needs. In the department, students pursue degrees that are in high demand in today’s workplace. These include several bachelor’s and associate’s degree options, as well as three minors. No matter the program, students benefit from small class sizes taught by our highly-qualified professors.

    With so many program options, you can explore your interest in computers and mathematics in a flexible, interdisciplinary way at Thiel. Our programs marry mathematics with business, secondary education, computer programming, technology, art, economics and many more fields of study! We prepare you for graduate study or employment in a variety of fields.

    Majors and Minors

    The Department of Math and Computer Science offers five bachelor’s degree options:

    • Actuarial studies
    • Computer science
    • Data analytics
    • Information systems
    • Mathematics

    Furthermore, we offer an associate’s in information systems degree, as well as two minors: computer science and mathematics. Courses in these programs focus on logic and critical thinking skills that are applicable in many careers. These programs include classes in subjects such as web design and development, java programming, numerical analysis and differential equations.

    Get Involved at Thiel

    Students pursuing a math or computer science degree at Thiel have many opportunities to get involved. Our honor society in mathematics, Kappa Mu Epsilon, is open to mathematics students and those in similar fields. Students gain real-world experience through participating in the Thiel community as well. For example, our information systems majors participate in service learning projects in Greenville creating and running websites for local organizations.

    Career Opportunities

    Many of the highest-earning bachelor’s degrees can be found in the math and computer science department! These programs prepare students for careers in government, education, business, communication, information systems, computer science and much more! If you plan on continuing your education, these programs will also prepare you for graduate school.
