E-mail: D. B. Armitage

Office Hours

None

I have taught at Thiel College since 1979 and hold the faculty rank of professor emeritus.

Educational Background

B.S. from Youngstown (State) University in Chemistry (1964)

Ph.D. from The University of Hawaii in Analytical Chemistry (1970)

My Interests

The development of instrument simulators on computers is my main interest, although I have wide interests in both computers and instrumentation. I am particularly interested in developing simulators which give beginning students a feel for how an expensive instrument would work. The Journal of Chemical Education: Software has published three of these programs.

Experience

I have many years of teaching experience both in college and in high school. I have taught high school in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont and New Mexico with a total of 8 years of experience. I now have 22 years of college experience with most of it at Thiel College. I also worked part-time as Network Administrative Manager for the college.

I teach General Chemistry (Chem 140, 160), Quantitative Analysis (Chem 240), Instrumental Analysis (Chem 370), Seminar (Chem 470, 480), and Advanced Topics in Analytical Chemistry (Chem 560).
