Academics > Majors and Areas of Study > Business Administration and Accounting > Requirements > Mortuary Sciences

Thiel College and Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science have designed a program leading to a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a diploma in Embalming and Funeral Directing. This four year course of study provides a broad based education to meet the changing needs of the funeral profession. Courses in psychology, business, computer science as well as the sciences prepare the graduate to move to the forefront of the field of funeral service. The faculties of both schools are caring teachers who take a personal interest in their students and will help them to achieve their fullest potential as professionals.

The student receives a minimum of five semesters at Thiel in a carefully designed curriculum of science, business and liberal arts, after which he/she attends the Institute for a one year trimester sequence in Embalming and Funeral Directing. Successfully completing these two courses of study satisfies the licensing requirements for funeral directors in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
