Gary Witosky '79

Professor - Thiel College

March 2, 2011

Gary Witosky and BHS students

"I really enjoyed hearing about Professor Witowsky's definition of luck.  'Luck is where preparation meets opportunity.'  This really opened my eyes about how everything we have learned in school will help us in the real world.  When we take our schoolwork seriously and we are prepared, then will come the satisfaction of having the opportunity to do great things!" - Robert Shew

"Mr. Witowsky has worked so far as an auditor, controller, treasurer, CFO, and COO, so I asked which position required the most creativity and which required the most accounting knowledge.  He answered that CFO required the most creative ability because the CFO can apply diverse techniques to finance the capital of the company.  The controller position requires the most accounting knowledge because he is responsible for reporting financial statements."

- Somin Oh

"Mr. Witosky made a very valid point when he said that, 'work is hard, therefore work hard.'  This is important because some people think that success is just a given, but in reality it is earned."

- Brendan Shollenberger

"I asked what was the most challenging thing in maintaining relationships with clients of an accounting firm?  He said that when he first started working, there was a lack of communication capability and the challenge was to make sure you made a very strong effort to keep in contact with your clients."

- Jihyun Kim

"Professor Witosky is very level headed and always willing to help in any situation.  He is a very versatile professor and loves helping students to achieve what they truly want out of their college career.  He looks forward to every graduation, not because his students are finally leaving, but because he has helped them to accomplish what they have set out to do and that is to graduate.  I hope that one day I too can say that I have helped someone the same way that he has helped numerous students."

- Sarah Hicks
