Timothy C. Zeffiro '77, speaker
Vice President - Western PA Region
Van Horn, Metz & Co., Inc."Mr. Tim Zeffiro was the presenter for our first presentation of the Business Seminar class on January 15, 2002. Mr. Zeffiro is a vice president and a professional salesman for Van Horn, Metz & Co. which sells raw materials, such as minerals and chemicals to corporations like PPG. The raw materials are used for paint pigments and even to make the rinse and reuse plates. Mr. Zeffiro says he loves what he does."
- Meghan Kremm, senior, accounting & business administration major"Tim Zeffiro explained that the vibrations of thought which a salesman releases through his enthusiasm will be picked up by the prospective buyer and acted upon as if it were his own creation. Enthusiasm is a difficult thing to explain, but its presence is easily recognized. A salesman is high of spirit and radiates an atmosphere of good fellowship, high faith, and lofty purpose."
- Naseeb Khand, sophomore, management information systems major"Lessons we learned from Mr. Zeffiro were: if he can be successful, we can be successful; if you fail at something, keep trying to make it work; commission is a great way to get paid if you are willing to work for it; and personal interaction is important to any career."
- Stacy Shook, junior, accounting major
"Mr. Zeffiro advised us to be hard workers, energetic and interactive with people. He kept emphasizing the importance of interacting with other people. I learned that I have to be a more interactive person to be a successful business woman."
- Soo Jin Hahn, freshman, accounting major
"Several things that were vital to his success were stressed by Mr. Zeffiro. The first of these was the need to practice strong etiquette skills when in a business situation. Others were hard work, energy, and desire. On the topic of ethics, he warned us about doing business with those who want extravagant perks to do business with you."
- Alan Shepard, junior accounting & business administration major
