Vice President, Guest Services
Pacific Bell Park
San Francisco Giants

"It's no wonder that Richard Mears is considered an honorable Thiel graduate. After graduating from Thiel and being unsure about what he wanted to do, Mr. Mears set out on a quest to find a job best suited for him. After pursuing further education he has been able to build a career in a field for which he has a great passion. Mr. Mears is the Vice President of Guest Services at Pacific Bell Park, the home of the San Francisco Giants."
- Vickie Donner, sophomore, major undeclared

"Rick Mears started his presentation by showing a video and giving everyone hats which I thought was a great way to get everyone's attention and make for a more relaxed setting."
- Mike Baker, senior accounting and business administration major

"Rick is in charge of about 800 employees. He does most of the training of new employees himself. In the off-season he tries to improve on every aspect of customer service. He does this through improvements in training and much research on prior years. One of his main points of being successful is to always be there or or do what you promise when you say you will."
-Chad Evans, senior, accounting and business administration major

"Mr. Mears is a very humble, pleasant, laid back person. He proved that following your passion and true talent can pay off. He said to be excellent we have to practice being excellent. He encouraged us to under promise and over deliver, to continue improving, and either be very nice or very smart."
- Erica Eddings, senior, business administration major

"Mr. Mears said that a person in guest services can change the quality of a day for anyone. One key point he made was to be an active listener because this will put you in a win-win situation."
-Sarah Coulson, senior, communication major
