R.O. Kaufman, '67, speaker

International Business Consultant

IBM and KPMG

“Attending dinner was a very good experience.  It was a great pleasure to talk and listen to Mr. Kaufman  The food was delicious.  I asked Mr. Kaufman, ‘How do you balance family and work?’ He answered that he is very active with his family.  He works to live and not live to work.  He goes on different types of vacations, events and other types of activities with his family.”

“Deke made some very important points to our class that none of the other speakers have mentioned.  He told us that it was to our advantage to inquire about the initial training we will receive and the nature of the training.  He urged all of us to have a discussion about this during our interview process.”

~ Bess Moran, senior

“During his wrap up, his main points were to participate in the community, continue to think globally, develop planning and organizational skills, and time management.  A lot of these points have been said by previous speakers, but I think that is a good thing because it means that these really are pertinent points to follow in your life and in the business world.  Deke was a great ending speaker for the business seminar.  I have really enjoyed this class and have gotten a lot out of all the speakers.”

“Deke inspired me with a quote, ‘We dream about where we want to go, but we don’t have a map to get there.’  This relates to exactly what I am going through as I prepare myself for after graduation and where my career path will lead.”

~ Eric Newlin, senior

“I was very privileged to be a part of this class.  I learned many life lessons that I never realized before.  Every speaker taught me something new and I am very grateful for that.  All of the speakers came from different backgrounds and showed that anything is possible if you put your mind to it, if you never give up, and if you set goals and believe.”
