Michael J. Kennedy '76, speaker

CFO/CEO
Phillipsburg Hospital

"Mr. Michael Kennedy is the CFO and CEO of Phillipsburg Hospital. For the past 26 years he has worked in 2 hospitals, Clearfield and Phillipsburg. He started as a staff accountant and 'climbed the ladder'. Mr. Kennedy claims that he used all the stuff he learned in college through his life."
- Michelle Hinderliter, senior actuarial studies and business administration major

"I couldn't count the number of times he mentioned how great his managers were. The best possible people will only make a CEO's job easier. He also mentioned his board of directors and said basically his job is to make them look good. I'm sure they enjoy his dedication."
- Benjamin Reed, senior business communication and communication major

"Regarding the cost of medical services, he said the hospital usually gets the money through the private insurance companies. In case the medical service is not covered by the patient's insurance, then Medicaid pays the fees or it is covered by some charity programs for free."
- Soo Jin Hahn, freshman accounting major

"Some lessons I learned were:
1. You have to get people to put on a positive attitude and be kind to your coworkers.
2. A good college education is worthwhile and the things you learn in college you actually use.
3. It is important to be loyal to your company.
4. Have the ability to change with the times."
- Autumn Turk, senior actuarial studies and business administration major

"During dinner Mr. Kennedy was explaining to us about a new surgery his hospital is performing for sleep apnea. This was very interesting since I learned about it in my psychology class."
- Cheryl Williams, senior accounting and business administration major
