Lynn Jones and Thiel Business Honors Seminar Students

Lynn Jones '74, speaker
Independent Financial Consultant - VSR Financial Services

Roving Outfield Base Running Instructor - Cincinnati Reds

"I am very glad that I decided to attend this dinner because I learned so much and it was quite an experience for me to sit and talk with a professional athlete that has three World Series rings.  After he spoke to the entire class, I asked him if I could put on his Boston Red Sox World Series ring.  He let me get a picture with him while I was wearing it.  It was an amazing experience for me because I am such a big sports fan."

~ Thomas Butera

"The reason I found Mr. Jones to be so interesting was because I related to him strongly.  Lynn was a very good baseball player at Thiel and was not quite sure what he was going to do once he graduated.  Like Lynn, I am still uncertain of what path I would like to pursue.  Coaching has always been a strong interest in my life, but my business degree is also something that I would like to use."

~ Christopher Lorber

"Lessons learned:

1.  Networking is the key to finding jobs.  Do not burn any bridges because you never know when you might need a person for some help.

2.  Do not miss an opportunity for anything because you may never get a chance for that job again.

3.  Being organized as a manager will give you the respect from the people working for you because they can easily pick up when someone is disorganized."

~ Derek Benedict

"Lynn Jones is one of the most impressive people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.  He started off the night by telling us about his wonderful Thiel College days and how he still has many friends from college with whom he stays in touch"

~ Jonathan Baird

"An important lesson I learned was to be able to listen.  Lynn stated that if you listen then most of the time the answer is right there.  By listening people realize that you care and are loyal which is important when doing business."

~ Jennifer Keopka
