Kevin Hart '86, speaker

V.P. and Controller, Lemieux Group LP

"Mr. Hart graduated from Thiel College in 1986 receiving a BA in Accounting and Business. Upon graduation, Mr. Hart got a job as an auditor in Public Accounting. He worked as an auditor until the Pittsburgh Penguins offered him the position he presently has."
- Chris Develli, junior accounting and business administration major

"Mr. Hart outlined the keys to success in running the Pittsburgh Penguins: run the operation like a business not a hobby, identify and develop new revenue streams, build business and community support, obtain a new arena, and reach a new collective bargaining agreement with the players that is more management friendly."
- Alan Shepard, senior accounting and business administration major

"According to Mr. Hart, most good managers have a good secretary and a good staff under them. This good staff has helped him to create his management philosophy, which involves the maintenance of professionalism, developing a respect for those around him, and an understanding that each employee needs to have time to take care of their family."
- Amanda Risher, senior accounting and business administration major

"Mr. Hart's job responsibilities are accounting and finance, pay the bills, collect on revenues, NHL reporting/player contracts, F/S reporting, auditing and taxing, and insurance. Throughout his day he deals 80% with the Penguins specifically and 20% with the players. He keeps current with everything that is going on around him in his job. He attends NHL conferences, and reads publications and journals."
- Maura Medvitz, senior business communication and communication major

"Lessons learned were: you should learn something from every job you have and then carry it to your next, a person's staff is the key to their survival, never lose focus on a person's family when dealing with work, the key to good management is professionalism and respect, management must always manage their team like a business, and always work on community support."
- Brian Eckhart, senior business administration major
