Caren Crash Renz '79, speaker
Vice President, Private Banking
First National Bank, Mercer, PA"After dinner, Mrs. Crash-Renz gave a brief description of her beginnings at Thiel College and a history of jobs she has held since graduating. She has held positions in fields including banking, stock brokerage, pharmaceutical sales and real estate and is currently the Vice President of Private Banking for First National Bank. Mrs. Crash-Renz's topic of the evening was 'Flexibility & Change' which she broke down into four parts: interviews, jobs, relationships and family."
- Benjamin Reed, senior business communication and communication major
"Mrs. Crash-Renz said to go as many interviews as possible, do research on the company and have questions to ask them. She also encouraged having good eye contact and being on time."
- Michelle Hinderliter, senior actuarial studies and business administration major
"The history of Mrs. Crash-Renz's professional career and life illustrate that you must be flexible and accept and make change. She set her goals and when she reached them she wanted something else so she would move on. She stressed working hard and going the extra mile like staying late and helping others."
- Mitch Berndt, senior business administration major"The lessons I learned from Mrs. Crash-Renz are:
1.) Don't ever believe someone when they tell you that you can't do something.
2.) You need to embrace change.
3.) Get continuing education when you can because you never know when you will use it.
4. Give back to the community."
- Keith Kirby, senior accounting and business administration major"I found Mrs. Crash-Renz's lecture to be very interesting. I never realized how much opportunity there is in the banking industry. She also showed me that a woman with a family could still be successful and passionate about her work."
- Laura Yaple, junior accounting and business administration major
