Emily MeyerAs an art major at Thiel College, I developed the fundamentals of visual art-making processes, problem solving, as well as how to analyze art and its history. The College’s partnership with Drew University allowed me to travel to New York City to study contemporary art history, inspiring me to pursue a career in the museum world. The professors at Thiel challenged both my creative and critical thinking abilities, while at the same time fostering an enriching student community. The Thiel College art program provided me with a wide range of experiences which continually provide insight in my professional life.

After graduating from Thiel in May 2005, I continued my studies at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, England, where I earned a post-bachelor’s certificate in art history. In December 2008, I completed my Master of Arts degree in Museum Communication from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. My graduate thesis, “Institutional Transformation in the 21st Century: Creating Visitor-centered Experiences at Contemporary Art Museums,” focused on the interaction between museum audiences and contemporary art.

I reside in Pittsburgh, PA and currently work in the communications department of The Andy Warhol Museum, as well as the Pittsburgh Partnership, a grants initiative of the City of Pittsburgh.
