Brother Martin's Walk Luther's birthday has been celebrated in other ways at Thiel. In 1874, 392 trees were planted in parallel rows across the campus in what is now known as Brother Martin's Walk. The walk was extended in a 1983 tree planting ceremony and continues to grow tree by tree through present day. Legend has it if a boy walks his girlfriend the length of the walk and kisses her, they are destined to become man and wife.
