WOMEN'S RELAY TEAMS BOTH PROVISIONALLY QUALIFY FOR NATIONALS

MEADVILLE, Pa. (May 10) -- The Thiel College women's track and field team competed at the Allegheny Gator Invitational this Friday. They were lead by the stellar performances of the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams.

The 4x100 relay team finished in second place with a school record and Division III provisionally qualifying time of 48.62. The members were Chavonne Green (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax), Kate DeGeorge (Butler/Butler), Latoya Locke (Farrell/Farrell), and Patrice Page (Cleveland, Ohio/Shaker Heights).

Green also finished third in both the triple jump (11.22) and 100-meter dash (12.57) while Freshman Kim Stitt (Hermitage/Hickory) finished fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 10.98.

The 4x400 relay squad of Page, DeGeorge, Moriah Monroe (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch)and Cara Riffe (Greenville/Reynolds) ran to a finish of fourth place and provisionally qualified for the Division III National Championships with a time of 3.55.98.

The Track and Field team will next compete at the Wheeling Jesuit Invitational Saturday, May 10 at 3:30 p.m.
