For Immediate Release: MEN'S TRACK & FIELD GAINS STEAM AS NATIONALS NEAR MEADVILLE, Pa. (May 10) -- The Thiel College men's track and field team competed at the Allegheny Gator Invitational this Friday. The Men's team was team was led by Alex Eaton (Erie/Cathedral Prep.) who won 400-meter dash after running a school record time of 48.18. This time also moved him up to tenth on the provisional qualifying list for the NCAA Division III Championships. Freshman Josh Jones (New Castle/New Castle) finished third in the 110-meter high hurdles with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 14.71. Jones also finished second in the high jump after clearing 6-7. Both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams put on a good showing with record breaking performances. The 4x100 team, which consisted of Brendan Taylor (Girard/Girard), Trayshon Mason (Decatur, Ill./Eisenhower), Elliot Wreh-Wilson (Erie/General McLane), and Dorran Coley (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College), finished second with a school record and provisional qualifying time of 41.60. The 4x400 squad of Coley, Eaton, Deighton Williams(Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College) and Brandon Eck (Williamsport/Jersey Shore) finished the day with a school record time of 3.17.58. The Track and Field team will next compete at the Wheeling Jesuit Invitational Saturday, May 10 at 3:30 p.m.
