MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY (Bachelor of Science Degree)
This unique major which provides a strong foundation in interdisciplinary sciences is designed for students planning to apply to medical, dental, pharmacy or veterinary schools and will benefit students planning to attend graduate school or work for pharmaceutical companies. The medicinal chemistry major provides students with an opportunity to diversify their education in chemistry and biology.
Two of the Learning Outcomes for a student who graduates from Thiel College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medicinal Chemistry are:
- demonstrating knowledge of the principles of medicinal chemistry including how drugs work, their synthesis, rational drug design, SAR/QSAR, three dimensional molecular modeling methods, and drug metabolism.
- being prepared for chemistry-related employment in the medical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related fields or medicinal chemistry-related graduate or professional programs including medical, dental, or veterinary schools.
